Big 8 girls basketball preview and predictions

I am personally excited for the basketball season to roll around, yes I know its a tad premature as the football season has just begun but for those that love basketball as much as I do.....lets get right to it.

In the past several years that have been some super talented teams in the Big 8 but also some really talented players, some with team success and some without. The Big 8 does lose its player of the year and co defensive player of the year in Demetria Prewitt but the conference returns a ton of experience and talent, some of those players are: Verona- Taylor Stemlow (jr), Reagan Briggs (jr), Maia Ellis (jr), Paige Lambe (sr), Megan Murphy (sr). Sun Prairie West- Marie Outlay (sr), Averee Antony (sr), Makiah Hawk (sr), Antionique Auston (sr). Madison East- Kearra Jones (jr) and Kylah McCullers (sr). Lafollette- Alayna West (jr). Middleton- Audrey Deptula (sr). Janesville Craig- Ellie Magestro-Kennedy (sr) and Maya Nicholson (sr). Madison Memorial- Emerson Meyers (jr). There is even more talent in the conference of players you might not have heard of or seen much of but those players to keep an eye out for are: Avery Blue (fr), Emily Jensen (so), Princess Nwachukwu (so), Naveya Jackson (so), and Arrianna Eubanks (so).

My predictions

Big 8 champs- Verona (sleeper to contend Sun Prairie West)

Player of the Year- Taylor Stremlow (sleeper to contend Alayna West)

Defensive player of the year- Marie Outlay (sleeper to contend Alayna West)

Coach of the year- Angie Murphy (sleeper to contend Marques Flowers)

Conference standings

  1. Verona

  2. SP West

  3. Madison Memorial

  4. Janesville Craig

  5. Madison East

  6. Middleton

  7. Lafollette

  8. Beloit

  9. SP East

  10. Madison West

  11. Janesville Parker
